Legislative elections in Paris: Emmanuel Grégoire elected in the first round, the left progresses

Emmanuel Grégoire will now sit in the National Assembly. The former first deputy of Anne Hidalgo at the Paris city hall, was elected as a deputy in the first round, this Sunday, in the 7th constituency of the capital. Invested under the banner of the New Popular Front, he collected 50.87% of the votes and effectively eliminated the former Minister of Transport Clément Beaune (Ensemble!) who collected 32.78% of the votes.

Nine left-wing deputies already elected in Paris

Like the 7th, there will be no second round in half of the Parisian constituencies. Nine left-wing candidates were elected in the first round. Without waiting for July 7, the left has therefore obtained at least as many seats in the Assembly as it had previously held in Paris.

The CGT general secretary in difficulty

Despite her dissident candidacy, outgoing MP Daniele Simonet came first in the 15th constituency against Céline Verzeletti, the general secretary of the CGT invested by the New Popular Front.

The votes are more split in the 11th constituency, where a three-way race is emerging. The New Popular Front candidate comes out on top (33.40%), followed by the candidate of the presidential majority (23.62%) and by the dissident candidate of the centre Gilles le Gendre (19.62%).

Stanislas Guerini on unfavorable waiver

For the presidential party, the outcome of the first round of these anticipated legislative elections already marks the loss of a deputy seat. Others are also uncertain, like that of Stanislas Guerini. The Minister for Public Service Transformation is on an unfavorable ballot in the 3rd constituency.
