The 13th edition of the Gardon triathlon took place this Sunday, June 30 despite the cancellation of the swimming event due to bad weather the day before.

There were around two hundred of them setting off this Sunday morning for the 13th edition of the Gardon triathlon. For François Bouché, the president of the Alès triathlon organizing club, “the party was a success” despite the absence of the swimming event. In fact, the storm that fell the previous evening made the Gardon unsuitable for swimming. Thus, the triathlon became a duathlon, the swimming event being replaced – as usual – by a second running event. “It’s a shame, yesterday morning I went swimming again and the water was perfect. We were happy to have overcome the elections but we couldn’t overcome the storms.”

Despite this setback, François Bouché is reassured, “We are still satisfied, the weather was good this morning. In addition, a small number of people registered when they learned that there was no swimming event. ” In the end, the satisfaction is great for François Bouché and the sixty volunteers. “There were no injuries and only one person dropped out so it’s a successful edition.”

The participants’ joy is also shared. Vincent Touzé, the winner of the senior general classification, admits “to come regularly to this triathlon. It’s a very beautiful course (especially cycling) with superb weather, it’s really very nice.”
