The travel time for motorists passing through Avesnes will increase significantly for a month. Diversions are in place.
Departmental road 962, linking Marbaix to Avesnes-sur-Helpe, will be in alternating traffic for a month, announces the Department of the North. Work to secure the crossroads connecting the RD 962 and the RD 124 worth 460,000 euros. The delay could be extended in the event of complicated weather conditions.
In a press release, the Department explains that “the objective is to make the route more readable for users at the intersection. This will be achieved by bordering the islands of the RD 962 in order to prevent vehicles from driving over the zebras. At the same time, the geometry of the intersection will be modified to improve the flow and safety of traffic. Finally, the renewal of the asphalt carpet at the intersection will also be carried out to guarantee a running surface in good condition.
