The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region will experience strong gusts of wind at the end of the weekend. In connection with the “Bert” depression, the south-southeast wind is strengthening across the country this Sunday morning and will intensify throughout the day until tomorrow, Monday.
Several departments will be placed on orange alert by Météo-France during the night from Sunday to Monday, and for a good part of the day on Monday, November 25 due to violent winds, the meteorological agency announced this Sunday morning.
In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, five departments are concerned: Puy-de-Dôme, Allier,e Rhône, the Loire et Haute-Loire. Saône-et-Loire, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region, will also be placed on orange alert next night.
For Météo France, this is a “windy episode not exceptional for the regions concerned, but strong enough to require special monitoring.”
The alert is valid from Sunday night to Monday, starting at midnight. Vigilance will extend until the end of the afternoon. This episode begins this Sunday in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, already placed on orange alert. It will then move from west to east and rise towards the center of France.
“During the night from Sunday to Monday, while it remains strong on the Pyrenean ridges, the south wind strengthens over the Massif Central (gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, even 110 km/h in the Haute-Loire sector d'Yssingeaux in particular), extending to the Saône-et-Loire with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h there too”, warns Météo France. “These strong winds extend to the south of Lyonnais and the Gier valley on Monday morning, with gusts reaching 100 to 110 km/h (locally 120 km/h in the Gier valley).”
“Uncertainty still exists over a geographical extension of the phenomenon with strong gusts which may concern the neighboring departments of those placed in orange and in particular northern Isère. An extension of orange vigilance is not completely excluded at this stage.also indicates the meteorological agency.
