A tragedy occurred on the A4 motorway, near the Bay 2 shopping centre, in Collégien (Seine-et-Marne), this Sunday. Around 4pm, a four-seater Cessna 172 – a small tourist plane – crashed on the central reservation, between the lanes, as shown by striking photos circulating on social networks.

A terrible accident that left three dead, the three occupants who were present in the fuselage, according to the public prosecutor of Meaux, Jean-Baptiste Bladier. The latter confirms the circumstances of the tragedy: the plane had just taken off from the Lognes-Emerainville aerodrome and apparently hit a high-voltage line.

At this stage, the age of the victims is still unknown. According to the first elements available to us, the shock would not have impacted the vehicles traveling on the tracks. However, the A4 motorway was cut in both directions and a diversion was put in place. An investigation is entrusted to the air transport gendarmerie while an administrative investigation is opened by the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA).

A similar accident in July 2023

“A tourist plane from Lognes-Emerainville (aéroflight flying club) has crashed for the second time in a year on the A4 near Collégien,” the Association of residents of the Lognes aerodrome wished to react. On Saturday, July 8, 2023, a small tourist plane missed its landing at the Lognes-Emerainville aerodrome in the middle of the day and ended up embedded in a crash barrier on the A4 motorway. Fortunately, only the pilot of this four-seater plane, who was carrying two other passengers, was slightly injured.
