The mixed relay is a discipline that French triathlon masters wonderfully (5 world titles, a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics).
On the national level, two clubs share the titles: Metz Triathlon and Poissy Triathlon. Both were still the favorites for the 2024 edition which took place this Sunday in Bordeaux.
The competition starts off rather badly for Metz Triathlon. His first relay runner, Théotime Lawson, only finished his course in 13th place, 41” behind the leader, Olympic substitute Tom Richard, who is playing under the colours of Poissy Triathlon.
Author of a superb relay, the Hungarian Zsanett Bragmayer allowed the Lorraine team to move up to 2nd position, 29 seconds behind the Pisciacaise Candice Denizot.
Surprise at the end of the 3rd relay, the lead of the competition is now occupied by Metz Triathlon, Ben Dijkstra also doubled Yann Allichon.
As the gap is only ten seconds, the match between Messina Margot Garabedian and Pisciacais Kristelle Congi promises to be exciting. Behind everything is possible for the bronze medal between Issy Triathlon, the Sables Vendée Triathlon and the Tri Val de Gray, qwhich are found in a handkerchief.
The last word will ultimately go to the representative of the Yvelines club for nine short seconds.
The podium is completed by le Tri Val de Gray, returned from Diable Vauvert thanks to the German Laura Lindemann.
Issy Triathlon and Les Sables Vendée Triathlon complete the Top 5.
Among juniors, the winning trifecta is made up of Sands Vendée Triathlon, of Poissy Triathlon and of Pontivy Triathlon.
