Canada Day | Where to celebrate July 1

Shows, inflatables, fireworks and other festivities will be on the agenda for Canada Day. Many municipalities are preparing celebrations for Monday, March 1is July, here are some of them.

Montréal

At the Clock Tower Quay, from 1:30 p.m.

A family gathering is planned at the Old Port of Montreal with activities for children. The afternoon will begin with a 21-gun salute with the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP, followed by a swearing-in ceremony for new citizens and a distribution of cupcakes. At 8 p.m., DJ Hools will offer a musical performance. Fireworks will close the evening, starting at 10 p.m.

Québec

Old Quebec and Plains of Abraham, from 11 a.m.

A formal ceremony and cake-sharing will take place on the Dufferin Terrace at 11 a.m., followed by family activities and youth shows on the Plains of Abraham starting at noon. The evening show will begin at 8 p.m. at the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand with a performance by Jeanick Fournier and an immersive laser show.

Ottawa-Gatineau

Plaines Le Breton, from noon

The mid-day ceremony will take place from noon to 1:15 p.m. and will feature Marie-Mai and Bedoin Soundclash, as well as a Royal Canadian Air Force flypast. At 8 p.m., the big evening show, hosted by Isabelle Racicot, will bring together Corneille, Chromeo, FouKi, Kanen, Kiesza, Maestro Fresh Wes, Metric, Neon Dreams, Notorious Cree, Qattuu, Sara Dufour and Willows. Fireworks will be in the spotlight at 10 p.m.

Laval : family activities and magic shows from noon, and DJ from 4 p.m.
