The storms that began Saturday in Quebec persist on Sunday, promising an alternation between sun, clouds and thunderstorms throughout the day.

In the center and east of the province, storms will potentially be more violent and less dispersed, according to forecasts from Environment Canada, which has issued a “severe thunderstorm watch” in certain areas.

“A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when atmospheric conditions are conducive to the formation of thunderstorms accompanied by at least one of the following: large hail, damaging winds or torrential rain,” the agency explains.

Gusts of up to 50 km/h will accompany Sunday’s thunderstorms. A strong humidex factor will also be present, with temperatures felt between 25 and 30 degrees depending on the region.

The sun and good weather will return on Monday, just in time for all the moves planned for July 1st. Temperatures will be relatively high, just below 30 degrees in the hottest places.
