There are only 16 departments left on orange storm alert, concentrated in the north-eastern quarter of the country. In its latest bulletin of this Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10 p.m., Météo France lifted the orange alert for 8 departments: Cher, Nièvre, Saône-et-Loire, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Loire, Rhône and Ain.

The Ardennes, Aube, Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Jura, Marne, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Bas-Rhin, Haut -Rhine, Haute-Saône, Vosges, Yonne and the Territoire de Belfort.

Heavy downpours and violent gusts

“The most violent storms are now organized around a line going from the Jura to Luxembourg”forecasters indicate. This Saturday afternoon, heavy showers hit the Tarn, where 61 mm was recorded in one hour in Dourgne, 56 mm in one hour in Montredon and 66.6 mm in three hours in the same place. Large hailstones were observed in the Meuse.

The Lot was not spared with rainfall intensities of around 20 to 30 mm/h in the early afternoon, according to Météo France. Violent gusts were also recorded, particularly in Tonnerre (Yonne) where a peak of 130 km/h was recorded, and in Troyes (Aube) with a gust of 107 km/h.

For tomorrow, Sunday June 30, Météo-France maintains orange vigilance in 14 departments.
