Morbihan continues its commitment against violence against women

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25, the Bretagne Atlantique Hospital Center (CHBA), in , has just announced the launch of a dedicated local team to the care of these victims. It will be made up of a psychologist, a marriage and family counselor, a social worker and a nurse. This system, planned to be operational by the start of 2025, comes from a call for projects published in 2021 by ARS Bretagne, and is part of a series of actions carried out by the Department on the subject.

Already a dedicated team in

Already in March 2024, a departmental coordinator was recruited specifically to orchestrate the care of women victims of violence in the region. Named Servane Fouillen, she is responsible for supporting the hospitals of Lorient, Vannes and Pontivy and ensures the link between the three establishments in Morbihan.

However, not everyone approaches the subject in the same way. In Vannes, the team created within a few weeks “will be attached to the sexual health center – abortion center of the hospital, and will have a dual mission: to ensure comprehensive and long-term care for women, but also support the hospital's health professionals in the preventive detection of this violence”, argues Caroline Bilhaut, deputy director of the CHBA.

Since the beginning of the year, the Scorff hospital in Lorient has relied on a team dedicated to domestic violence, attached to the emergency department. This unit includes two doctors and ensures the reception of women victims of violence one day a week: “It is a day hospital format, where women meet three to four professionals in the same day,” explains Servane Fouillen. In Pontivy, there is currently no similar system, even if different projects are being considered.
