This Friday, November 22, and after two days of blockage, the last tractors of the Rural Coordination (CR) lifted the blockade that it had been holding for 48 hours in front of the entrances to the Scalandes purchasing center in Mont-de-Marsan. Two days, which saw a fire in the premises of the DDTM but also on the Saint-Avit roundabout where the firefighters, stationed nearby, had to intervene.
Faced with this chaos observed by the prefecture, Françoise Tahéri announced, Wednesday evening, that she wanted to file a complaint against the CR.
Monthly plenary meeting, proposed by the prefecture
It appears that an agreement was reached between the two parties on the evening of Thursday, November 21. The prefecture sent a press release in which it draws up a road map for the agricultural world, all unions combined (Modef, Confédération paysanne, FDSEA, JA and CR).
We can read in particular: “The President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry as well as the members of the government have taken very clear positions concerning their opposition to the proposed Mercosur agreement. They announced the examination in the Senate of the orientation bill for food and agricultural sovereignty and the renewal of generations in agriculture from January 2025 and affirmed their support for the agricultural profession and income. The commitments made will be kept point by point and methodically according to the terms of the Prime Minister.”
“Simplification” again and again
Concretely, the Landes prefect “commits to continuing and accentuating dialogue and joint work with the chamber of agriculture and all agricultural unions, on the basis of a monthly plenary meeting”. The FDSEA already ensured Monday evening at News Landesafter an interview with Françoise Tahéri, that two meetings were planned for next week, in particular to resume work on “simplification” but also to address the question of avian flu.
According to state services, stakeholders from the agricultural world will be brought together specifically in the coming weeks.
- On all simplification measures useful for the activity of farmers and the quality of the department and its resources, every month;
- On agricultural unhappiness and the resolution of particularly difficult individual situations, while respecting confidentiality, before the end of November 2024;
- On the fair remuneration of producers, in particular in the poultry and beef sectors, with commitments expected on contractualization from all the players in these sectors in the first quarter of 2025;
- On an increased contribution from public collective catering, in particular through quality and local supplies;
- On communication actions to make farmers better known, in particular the department's production, and to draw consumers' attention to the importance of their choices, according to their financial possibilities of course.
