That’s it: the open-air museum of the new monumental forest of Rouen is revealed. For this second edition, the Roumare forest, in Canteleu, was chosen. 13 new and surprising works will be exhibited until June 2026.

Its outlines were unveiled in November 2022, during a press conference. It took a little patience…

But it’s now official: this Saturday, June 29, 2024, the Roumare Monumental Forest, in Canteleu, is ready to be explored. And we bet you’ll be amazed!

Discover it, in video, with M. Weber and F. Bollez:

The Monumental Forest project, led by the Rouen Normandy Metropolis in collaboration with the National Forestry Office, offers the 2e edition of a route of monumental works in the forest, to be discovered independently over four kilometers in the Roumare forest, and for two years (until June 2026).

The call for projects was a great success with 326 participants from all over the world (artists, designers, architects, etc.). In total, 13 works were selected and installed along this remarkable route.

The first edition of the Monumental Forest brought together 400,000 visitors.Compared to last year (the first monumental forest located in the green forest, Editor’s note)we wanted to think bigger with more budget“, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol said last November.

Larger, and more lasting, at least for one of these 13 works: that of Thomas Dambo, a Danish artist.very proud” for being chosen. He was unanimously approved by the jury with his work “A giant in the forest”.

Among the 12 other works of art, we will note “Origin” by the visual artists Fabrice Deperrois and Pauline Thébault: the members of the collective the Plastiqueurs, from Rouen, have developed a mirrored egg which will reflect, at 360 degrees, the trees of the Roumare forest.

It is made up of nearly 150 faces. Visitors can even touch it and turn it around.

Let us also note the presence of a giant swing designed by the Czech Jan Tyrpekl, of an installation that takes height by the Catalan Xevi Bayona, of a monumental painting created by the students of ESADHAR (theHigher School of Art and Design Le Havre – Rouen) in collaboration with the Boa Mistura collective, “from graffiti and born in Madrid at the end of the year 2021“.

A massive, surprising and different exhibition that marks a 4-kilometer route. These works are waiting for you from today until June 2026 in the Roumare forest in Canteleu.

Start of the route: 1 avenue du Président Allende in Canteleu, at the entrance to the Roumare national forest (GPS coordinates: latitude 49.454422392083316 / longitude 1.031323788245677)

Free and accessible 24/7.
