From July 1, 2024, LiA is setting up a new bus network in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) and the surrounding towns, in order to prepare for the arrival of the 3rd tram line.

Each line has evolved to be optimized (new stops, removal of others, terminus moved, extension of lines, etc.). The objective is to allow “better mobility”, by avoiding changes of routes and diversions. by 2027 and during the work phase.

1. The creation of eight bus lines: ChronoLiA lines from C1 to C8

These new bus lines form the main ones in the network and are accessible from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., or even until 12:30 a.m.with a frequency 10 to 15 minutes maximum.

Thus, the C1 now allows the Montivilliers-Saint-Adresse connection via the city centre of Le Havre, the C2 from Parc de l’Estuaire to Le Havre, via Harfleur, etc. The C2 also takes over from line 22, which was cancelled due to work on rue Demidoff. Another example is the new C5 line, which increases the frequency of service to the southern districts of Le Havre, going from 15 to 10 minutes. Its new route also allows a Harfleur – Quartier Sud link, including Les Neiges/Graville, and a more direct route to Le Havre station.

2. More direct links between Le Havre and peripheral municipalities

The new network promises more direct connections between Le Havre and the communes of Criquetot-l’Esneval (ligne 21) and Saint-Romain-de-Colbosc (line 12, no connection from Le Havre to Montivilliers). Previously, line 21 left from Montivilliers; it will now leave from Le Havre station towards Étretat via Montivilliers. As for line 12, it corresponds to the former lines 11 and 12 with a need for a connection at Étainhus station. The line is now direct.

3. Change of terminus for line 13

There will always be two lines serving Étretat. Line 13 will focus on serving communities. It now leaves from Grand-Hameau with a direct connection with tram line A (and no longer from Le Havre station) “so that it is more responsive to coastal residents”, explains LiA.

The ligne 21 has been extended precisely to maintain a direct link Le Havre-Étretatand to complement other lines on the Le Havre-Montivilliers axis in order to distribute the number of passengers “which was previously concentrated exclusively on line 13”.

4. A new inter-district line (line 16)

L’ex-ligne 16 only made the Mont-Gaillard-Dollemard connection. It is now extended to Le Havre station via Sainte-Adresse in order to provide better service to the North-West area of Le Havre (Sainte-Adresse, Dollemard, Mont-Gaillard). “It meets the travel needs of the population covered and allows access to the city center without a connection,” rejoices Lia.

5. A FilBus service with three new interconnected zones

Previously, there were three impermeable zones. Three large interconnected geographical sectors were defined comprising ” areas of overlap » promoting travel on and towards the main living areas (Octeville, Étretat, Saint-Romain, Criquetot) and the main lines of the network. The inhabitants of each municipality served now benefit from a greater number of possible destinations.

Bonus Point: a new line to compensate for the shutdown of the LER

As of September 2two new bus lines will be created, the 11 and 11 express, linking Le Havre to Montivilliers, via Harfleur and Monod Hospital. These two lines reinforce line 21 and compensate for the September 1 stoppage of the LER (the regional Lézard’Express which runs from Le Havre to Rolleville), pending the arrival of the third tram line in the summer of 2027. These two lines will be in service until the arrival of line C rallying the Béreult Valley and Montivilliers, passing through the Gares station in Le Havre.
