Patrick and Roger are more of the type to move forward. Anticipate future competitions, prepare for upcoming events.

But, if there is something that the treasurer and the president of US Cagnes pétanque regret, it is no longer welcoming students from the town to their beautiful Place Saint-Pierre. “Those from La Pinède came a long time ago, we had those from Gambetta three times but then we needed authorizations. And since Covid, we no longer have those from the recreation center either”breathes Roger Renaldi, the president of the association.

“It’s a school of concentration”

Far from him the desire to denounce anything. He just regrets: “It’s a shame, it was nice to have kids. And the kids, they loved it because it’s nice to throw things and it’s friendly.” With Patrick Vaguener, the treasurer, they highlight the positive points. Like the proximity to the establishments of La Pinède and Gambetta. “They can come on foot”. And list the benefits of learning pétanque: “It’s a school of concentration. Because you have to be in the game to get there. Precision is essential too.”

The desire of these two players and enthusiasts is first and foremost to transmit “Cultural Heritage” of Cros-de-Cagnes but also to prepare “Succession”.

In order to reassure and show their good will, the two men wish to clarify: “We have three people who are able to supervise children and the departmental committee sends two people in this case. We put up barriers around the grounds, there is no risk.” So there you have it, Patrick and Roger would like the procedures to be simplified: “We sent an email to the heads of the establishments but perhaps they are not the right people to address it to. If they tell us to write a letter, we will do so.”

Chantal Germain, elected official in charge of Education, assures that she was not contacted by the association and invites it to contact the school fund.
