The guests of a wedding in Tarn-et-Garonne experienced a quite unusual scene. A 63-year-old man and a 25-year-old young woman were to unite with Faudoas. But the event turned into a tragedy. In front of the town hall, the father of the bride stabbed his future son-in-law. He never accepted this union.

Shortly before the wedding begins, the attacker is out of the way. He stares intently at the sixty-year-old who is to become his son-in-law in the next few minutes. Jean-Louis Dupont, mayor of the town of Faudoas, discusses this sudden attack. “At one point, he ran towards the couple and then pulled out the knife“, he points out at the microphone of RTL.

According to the mayor, the father had hidden the weapon at his back, “between the belt and his body”. In total, he carried seven stab wounds to his future son-in-law. The councilor notably intervened to arrest the attacker. “When I pinned him to the ground, I held him. I put my knee on the corner of his chin and throat. He wasn’t moving. I told him: ‘I’ll hold you until the police arrive'”, says Jean-Louis Dupont, who saw a “pool of blood” on the ground. The sixty-year-old was conscious.

The town hall secretary notified the police and firefighters. “You have to marry me before I leave,” confided the victim before being taken away by emergency services. The future groom underwent surgery. His days are not in danger, indicates the mayor to RTL.
