When festival-goers discover Viennese trombonist Robinson Khoury on stage…

Born in Vienna to a singer mother and a pianist father, both teachers at the Le Trente Conservatory, Robinson Khoury, 29, benefited from a real spotlight during the Ibrahim Maalouf concert on Thursday, June 27.

He was indeed among the distinguished guests at the opening concert of Jazz à Vienne. Which undoubtedly allowed many Viennese to discover that Vienna had given birth to a trombonist who is quite simply making an international career in a field, the trombone, where stars are few and far between.

This virtuoso musician, as he demonstrated on the stage of the ancient theatre, was in residence at the last “Jazz sous les pommiers” in Coutances, the famous Normandy Jazz festival.

He has had many experiences within prestigious orchestras, while regularly collaborating with musical greats both on the French scene (Ibrahim Maalouf, of course, therefore, Sacre du Tympan, Théo Ceccaldi), and internationally (Quincy Jones, Metropole Orkest). No less!

This born explorer is endowed with a communicative energy based on flawless technique.

He released his first record in 2019 “Frame Of Mind”, then in 2022 a second opus was released: “Broken Lines”.

The Saint-Georges Club in Cybèle

Vivre-vienne announced it to you: Vienna now benefits from a jazz club installed under the Cours Brillier Post Office: “the Club Saint-Georges”. A new concert venue in Vienna which will open its doors to the public from September 15.
In the meantime, the musicians of the collective animating this new place were on Thursday June 27 on the stage of Cybèle, moving from their cellar to the open air, to make themselves better known. We could recognize that evening on the drums Roger Boghossian, the president of the association which manages this place, Philippe Marmonier on vocals, François Durier on double bass and Philippe Balland on piano.

When Minus, the smallest gallery in Vienna, plays Jazz…

Minus, which opened this year, is the smallest exhibition gallery in Vienna. It also has the advantage of being located not far from the ancient theatre, and therefore benefits from many people passing by its window.

It was therefore logical that she should devote an exhibition to Jazz. It includes works by Jihael Frankl, Marina Pavlo, Serge Gallardo, Olivier Maillard and a certain François Robin, “the” painter of the Festival.

-Minus Gallery, from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., 3 rue Victor Hugo, in Vienna. Free entry.
