Time for analysis

A round table conference in February

The first phase of this work resulted in an analysis of urban violence at the national level.
On Wednesday, February 21, a conference was held, led by sociologist Thomas Sauvadet, in the presence of local actors who were able to express their views on these events.

A time of exchange with the Briochin.es in May, restitution during Citizens’ Day

In May, elected officials and municipal services, as well as community players from Saint-Brieuc, came to meet residents to discuss their experiences of urban violence.
A return to the inhabitants of this collection of testimonies was initiated during the citizens’ day on Saturday May 25 in Balzac (at the location of the old towers).

After this phase of listening to the residents, the time has come for the measures that are and will be implemented. This was a stated desire of the municipality after this episode of violence.

Time for action

All municipal services have developed tools to get even closer to populations, adapt systems and carry out concrete actions, for example (non-exhaustive list):

1. Call for “childhood youth leisure activities outside the walls” for summer 2024 in conjunction with popular education associations;

2. Implementation of social mediation actions with the recruitment of two agents, present during atypical hours, in public spaces, with meetings in the neighborhoods via “citizen cafés”.
The first dates:
Monday July 1st, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: rue de Saint-Malo
Friday, July 5, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Place Alsdorf

As the first anniversary of Nahel’s death approaches, combined with the organization of legislative elections, the municipality remains fully mobilized so that the values of living together and respect can prevail.
