After a summer week where the soleil has spread widely, a violent stormy episode is expected in Bas-Rhin this weekend.

Violent storms expected from Saturday evening

Of violent storms are to be expected “for the evening of Saturday June 29, from 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. until midnight,” confirms Christophe Mertz, meteorologist for Atmo-Risk.

For this Friday evening, there is nothing special planned: no storms.

From Saturday evening, hail, strong gusts of wind (100 km/h or more) and heavy rain should be expected. Three weeks’ worth of rain could fall in just an hour or two.

Bas-Rhin placed on orange thunderstorm alert for Saturday

The Bas-Rhin has also been placed on orange storm alert by Météo France for this Saturday.

In total, 25 departments have been placed on orange vigilance for risk of strong to violent thunderstorms. Part of the southwest this Friday evening and Saturday morning, and the northeast of the country Saturday late in the day and overnight.

At this time, it is impossible to determine whether the Bas-Rhin where the Haut-Rhin will be more affected by these storm phenomena.

The risk of thunderstorms should gradually disappear from Sunday June 30, and the beginning of next week should see the return of cooler temperatures.
