This Monday, November 4, in the peaceful area of rue des Bateliers, near Place Galland in Verdun (Meuse), a 77-year-old man found dead in the accommodation he owned, reports L’Est Républicain.

According to the firefighters' return, the sixty-year-old, a former plumber-heating engineer, lived alone and had died several days ago.

A neighbor sounds the alarm

Concern began to grow in the neighborhood, when the septuagenarian had not been seen for several days. One of his neighbors, taken aback by this unusual absence, decided to contact a member of the retiree's family. He, fearing the worst, immediately notified the firefighters.

Emergency services force entry

On scene, rescuers were unable to access the locked home and had to use a ladder to reach a first floor window. Once inside, they confirmed the sad news by discovering the lifeless body of the Verdun resident.

The first indications suggest a death of natural origin, no autopsy has been ordered at this stage.
