The village of Brienz (GR), evacuated again following the threat of a new landslide, could be moved to Tiefencastel and Alvaneu. The municipality of Albula presented a concept along these lines on Wednesday. However, the financing has not yet been definitively settled.

The concept plans to create housing for 70 people in Alvaneu Dorf and for 100 people in Tiefencastel, the municipal authorities indicated on Wednesday evening to the residents concerned.

But we do not yet know who would finance such rehousing. The municipality has applied for subsidies from the Confederation and the canton, said Benno Burtscher, chairman of the responsible committee in Albula. On Tuesday, the Confederation sent ‘a response in principle positive’ to the canton, but it still needs to be analyzed.
