He was barely 21 years old, with the physique of a big teenager and the face of a young student. That day, July 29, 2011, Christophe Lemaitre set off from lane 6 during the final of the French championships in Albi in Tarn. The French sprinter is already attracting all the cameras on him, the 1m90 Savoyard who broke the 10 second barrier a year earlier.
As he has just announced his retirement this Thursday, June 27, we take a look back in pictures at the race that allowed Christophe Lemaitre to enter a little more into the legend of French sport. In Albi, alongside Jimmy Vicaut, he will smash his French record in 9 seconds 92.
