Jean-Michel Roussier (president of Le Havre): “No need for the DNCG to reduce the payroll”

“What is your view on the DNCG’s decision, with the supervision of the HAC payroll?
It was expected, it’s a logical decision, there’s nothing to say. The DNCG did the job, period. It’s a direct consequence of what we’re going through with the CVC non-regulation. For a year now, I’ve been taking all the actions I can take against the League against this CVC story and the way we, Le Havre, have been treated.

What was missing in the HAC file to not have payroll control?
The money we didn’t get from CVC. This is what he missed. Listen again to the hearing of Jean-Marc Mickeler in the Senate, who said that the money that the clubs received from CVC was primarily intended to strengthen their equity. To make its decisions, the DNCG relies on the clubs’ equity. The gap is 32.5 million between what we received and the L1 club which received the least. It is our majority shareholder (Vincent Volpe) which replaces CVC.

Will Le Havre’s budget be revised downwards?
It will not be revised downwards because of this. This will be the case in relation to the catastrophe that is coming in terms of TV rights. What should we expect? For Le Havre, it’s the double effect kiss cool.

“As foreign clubs see the current problem with our TV rights, they are revising their offers downwards”

What will the HAC budget be (last year it was 32 million)?
I don’t know how to say precisely, but I never give a figure. Obviously the budget will have to decrease, of course. But the management of the payroll, we don’t need the DNCG to impose it on us. We are obliged to manage ourselves.

That’s to say ?
That is to say that even if the DNCG had not regulated the payroll, we would have reduced it. Where does our revenue come from?

TV rights
It’s 50% of the clubs’ budget. We know that we will never have amounts equivalent to those of last year. You would have to be an idiot to think otherwise. So you really imagine that I could keep the payroll at the same level as last year? In the best of all worlds, our revenues will drop by 25 to 30%. And again I am optimistic in saying that. I didn’t need the DNCG to lower the payroll.

Will you be able to finance transfers?
The sanction only concerns the payroll. I am unable to answer you today. In any case, there will only be transfers if there are sales. If there are no departures, there will be none. And as foreign clubs see the current problem with our TV rights, they are lowering their offers. It complicates everything.

When will you make the arrival of the new coach official (Didier Digard has been announced and a press conference is being held on Monday)?
Next week. That’s how it’s planned. The resumption takes place on Monday. (smile). »
