For the second time, the famous Franco-Israeli businessman Beny Steinmetz, convicted on appeal for having corrupted Guinean leaders, failed to implode the Geneva procedure. In a second request for review, the defense notably put forward new elements supposed to demonstrate the so-called turpitudes of the former prosecutor Claudio Mascotto who had led the entire investigation. The judgment of the cantonal court, dated November 15, dismisses all arguments, says that there is nothing solid or new under the sun, declares the request inadmissible and even abusive. The costs of this attempt, set at 15,000 francs, were charged to the mining magnate. The controversy can still reach the Federal Court, which is also already seized of an appeal against the 365 pages of the judgment rendered on March 28, 2023.
