Yesterday, several community organizations, the police service, the Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center and other partners held the first Homelessness Fair in the Gatineau Valley.
The event was held at Galeries Maniwaki and offered people different kiosks to learn more about the phenomenon of homelessness which is growing more and more in the region, and everywhere else in Quebec.
Maniwaki Mayor Francine Fortin talks about homelessness in Maniwaki and the actions the City is taking to help the most disadvantaged:
The prefect of the MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, Chantal Lamarche, was also there and she mentions here that the government has its share of responsibility in the growing problem of homelessness in Quebec:
Kiosks from Maison Amitié, Suicide detour, Maison Olivier and other organizations informed people about the services offered to combat homelessness. The Homelessness Fair was not very busy, but a few people came to gather information.
