We know a little more about the attack on a jogger by dogs, Friday November 15, in La Force, in Dordogne.

According to information collected from the public prosecutor's office, it took place around 5:50 p.m., rue des Allains, to the north of the town. The victim, a 51-year-old man who was jogging, had just left his home, located in a neighboring street.

Passing in front of the dog's owner's house, the athlete was first followed by three of them, who were wandering for around fifty meters. It was when he turned around that he was attacked by a bulldog and an American Bully. The second, of the same breed as the one in the photo, being the main responsible for the injuries.

Left calf hemorrhage

The jogger was bitten and scratched on his arms and legs as well as his right ear. The deeper bite caused a hemorrhage in the left calf.

The attack stopped when a family of three neighbors intervened, sticks in hand, to put the dogs to flight. They were the ones who gave first aid. Taken care of by Samu, the man was operated on the next morning. He was able to return home at the beginning of the week and filed a complaint.

According to the prosecution, the dogs were not categorized as potentially dangerous and therefore not subject to detention authorization or declaration to the town hall. But they have already bitten a passerby, without there having been any legal action, according to the deputy mayor, Didier Allard.

Criminal proceedings

As of Tuesday, the dogs were still at their owner's home. They could be subject to placement with a view to subsequent confiscation, upon decision of a magistrate. Article 99-1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure authorizes the president of the court, under conditions, upon requisitions from the prosecutor and after advice from a veterinarian, to order that animals be euthanized.

As for the owner, he was interviewed and should be the subject of criminal proceedings for involuntary injury, an offense punishable by two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.
