While Canadians celebrate July 1, many businesses will be closed.

Many businesses are closing their doors for Canada Day. Others remain open to customers. Here’s a look at what’s open and closed this Monday, March 1is July in Quebec.

  • THE shopping centers and most of retail businesses are closed under the Act respecting hours and days of admission to commercial establishments (New window).
  • THE convenience storesTHE grocery stores large and small area, pharmaciesTHE stations-serviceTHE restaurants and the bars remain open.
  • The branches of the Quebec Liquor Society (SAQ) will be open, with the exception of those located in a closed shopping center.
  • All branches of the Quebec Cannabis Society (SQDC) will be closed, but same-day express delivery will be possible after a telephone order in several cities in Greater Montreal.
  • THE banks and the cash registers are closed until Tuesday, July 2.
  • THE museums will mostly be open

Services publics

Federal and provincial government services are taking a break for the anniversary of Confederation.

The offices of Canada Posts will not deliver or collect mail until Tuesday. Service Canada offices will reopen on Tuesday, as will service points of the Quebec Automobile Insurance Company, which will also be accessible from Tuesday.

Public service hours vary by municipality.

The different collections are maintained and the ecocenters remain open according to their usual summer schedule. But the libraries, THE swimming pools and the municipal offices will remain closed.

Public transport

  • The Société de transport de Montréal reminds you that bus schedules may be modified on the 1stis July. For its part, the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) operates according to the Sunday schedule.
  • The Longueuil Transport Network (RTL) and the Laval Transport Society (STL) are offering Saturday service.
  • In Quebec, the Réseau de transport de la capitale buses run according to the Sunday schedule.
  • As for exo commuter trains, the Vaudreuil-Hudson and Saint-Jérôme lines operate on a Saturday schedule. Finally, lines 3, 4 and 5 (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Candiac and Mascouche) do not offer any service.
