A mega photovoltaic power plant worth 50 million euros on 48 hectares will be built by the end of 2027 in the town of Tavel in Gard. The project partners formalize their request for qualification as a national-scale project.
The Tavel solar power plant project will be located on communal land on the Campey plateau. This project, developed by a public-private group and scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2027, aims to develop, build and operate a ground-mounted solar power plant with a power of 52 MWp.
This power plant must be built in the immediate vicinity of the very high voltage electrical substation managed by RTE, which is a strategic infrastructure of capital importance for the French transport network, and the supply of part of the PACA and Occitanie region is more of 4 million people.
The 48 hectare project will produce 74 GWh/year, cover the electricity supply of more than 47,800 people and avoid the annual emission of 27,300 tonnes of CO2.

A request for inclusion of the Tavel project in the list of national-scale projects for the attention of the Prime Minister was made by the project partners: the municipality of Tavel, the agglomeration of Rhone Gard as well as Vivette Lopez, Laurent Burgoa, Denis Bouad, Senators of Gard, TotalEnergies, the Occitanie Regional Energy and Climate Agency and SEGARD.
