TGVs between Reims and Paris soon to be canceled, according to the CGT

This is a new organization at SNCF unveiled this Wednesday, November 20 by the CGT Cheminots de . According to the union, several regular TGVs, notably between Reims and , will be deleted from December 2024some over a period of several months, others permanently. SNCF management cites maintenance operations to justify these deletions.

The CGT mentions la suppression of the following trains:

  • The TGV between Reims and Paris (11:56 a.m. – 12:44 p.m.) every Sundayfrom December 15.
  • The TGV between Paris and Charleville-Mézières (8:28 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.), every Sundayfrom December 15. (One of the only direct routes between the two cities on Sunday).
  • The TGV between Reims and Paris (11:56 a.m. – 12:42 p.m.) from December 24, 2024 to March 6, 2025, Monday to Thursday.
  • The TGV between Paris and Reims (12:58 p.m. – 1:44 p.m.) every Friday from January 10, 2025 to March 7, 2025.

SNCF talks about maintenance work

For the CGT, the SNCF “remains vague and does not take responsibility for its choices by mentioning 'marginal timetable changes'. These trains, according to the union, run “yet with a huge number of travelers contrary to the reassuring words of the leaders.”

Contacted, SNCF management responded to Bleu Champagne-Ardenne, mentioning a series of works: “Like every year, SNCF Voyageurs makes reductions during off-peak periods (particularly at the start of the year) to enable maintenance operations to be carried out on our trains (in order to guarantee total availability during peak periods).

We are ensuring that these reductions do not have an impact on customers who use our TGVs between Paris and Reims to travel to work on a daily basis.

Furthermore, like every year, SNCF Réseau carries out maintenance work on the rail network which may have a one-off impact on traffic.”
