Refusal to comply, fleeing on foot… What we know about the collision that injured three police officers in Cannes

This Thursday at around 2:30 a.m., it had already been a while since a suspicious vehicle had been spotted by video surveillance, driving dangerously and at high speed in Cannes.

According to our information, the driver of this Renault Clio could be the cause ofa refusal to comply with a BAC crew shortly before in the Cannet sector.

Following a report from the video surveillance centre, several municipal police patrols began looking for him in the Bocca area.

Still, at the sight of a municipal police patrol, the vehicle accelerated again to take Avenue Poesi then Avenue Maurice Chevalier in the direction of La Frayère, and suddenly stopped deported to the left. It was at this point that the Renault collided head-on with a municipal police car that was coming in the opposite direction.

A police officer seriously injured in the face

The three agents were injured, including one more seriously in the face, while his two colleagues were more lightly injured and transported to Cannes hospital. This late Thursday afternoon, their condition did not cause too much concern.

The driver abandoned his vehicle on the spot and fled on foot by climbing a fence.

Despite the imminent arrival of another municipal police patrol (which usually monitors the area)the individual was not arrested. The national police also went to the site to make initial findings.
