“We are lucky to have a boat that bears the name of our association,” rejoices Cécile Jehanno, general director of Coup de Pouce. For this 2024 edition, Vendée Globe skipper Manuel Cousin has chosen to wear the colors of the association. He gave his boat the name of the association of which he is the sponsor. The opportunity to benefit from a unique experience to offer great visibility.
The Imoca Coup de Pouce is thus adorned with its most beautiful letters, ready to tour the world. “Many children prepared drawings and letters that Manuel took on board his boat. We tell them that Manuel cousin is going to have an incredible, but difficult, adventure, and that learning to read is also difficult,” she continues. The association has been active in extracurricular activities for 40 years. Its objective is to fight against educational inequalities through games. “We need visibility to have a place,” adds Cécile Jehanno. According to the director, having a Coup de Pouce boat is a source of great pride and a great sharing of energy to continue actions.
This Vendée Globe adventure will therefore certainly resonate in the approach to learning reading or mathematics. For his part, the skipper could well take inspiration from the slogan of the Coup de Pouce association, “Tomorrow is played today”. In the event of a hard blow, he will be able to remember that hundreds of children follow him very closely throughout France.
