Students from the André Hoarau school were able to discover Krav Maga during a workshop within the establishment this Thursday, June 27, an initiative of the Krav Maga de l’Est club.

“In the street for example, if there is a man who attacks us, we do not have to fight, but we defend ourselves as we have been taught” says a student.

This Thursday morning, the kids at the André Hoarau school in Saint-Benoît discovered the practice of Krav Maga, a sport involving self-defense and counterattack. Johny Moutouvrin, instructor of this discipline, was on hand to teach them the basics.

“Understand as a priority, self-confidence, self-control and that already begins with the salvation called kida. Krav Maga is self-respect in order to be able to respect others” explains the coach.

The objective behind this discovery workshop is to conclude an agreement for three consecutive years of Krav Maga within the establishment. Good news for the president of the Reunion karate league, who is delighted.

“This initiative of the Krav Maga Club of the East, the signing of an agreement between the school, national education and the club, is a partnership to bring back the practice of Krav Maga and generally karate in the schools for young people confides the president of the Karate League of Reunion, Adolphe Pepin.

200 students from Saint-Benoît and 400 students from Sainte-Anne have already been introduced to the practice and other establishments are expected to follow suit.
