A man died in Arnouville early in the evening this Wednesday. A pedestrian, around 60 years old, hit by a car on the RN1.
The Guadeloupe Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) was alerted at 6:02 p.m., this Wednesday, November 20, 2024, for an accident that occurred on national road 1 (RN1), near the Arnouville section, in Petit-Bourg. A car hit a pedestrian.
The thirteen firefighters dispatched to the scene found two victims.
A man aged around 60 was declared dead by the doctor from the Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service (SMUR), after an attempt to bring him back to life.
Another man, almost 50 years old, was in a state of shock; He is the driver of the vehicle involved in this accident.
The police and Routes de Guadeloupe agents were also mobilized to secure the premises and regulate traffic; the tragedy caused major traffic jams during rush hour, when there were many vehicles on the main roads of the archipelago.
In Guadeloupe, since the start of the year, there have been 44 deaths on the roads of Guadeloupe, compared to 39 in 2023.
