To this end, the municipal council authorized the conclusion of an agreement with the company Tenco inc. and the Quebec Metal Alliance; as part of the Défis innovation Québec program, Tenco’s mission over the coming months will be to design, manufacture and test a 100% electric snowcat dedicated to snow removal from sidewalks.

“In a context of climate change and sustainable development, the City must innovate to transform its practices,” stated in a press release the person responsible for motorized equipment management on the executive committee, Bianca Dussault. “By collaborating with Tenco, the City hopes to obtain an innovative and conclusive solution to clear snow from its sidewalk network in a greener way.”

The City will provide access to its public domain to Tenco for field testing of the prototype as well as a part-time resource for project coordination. The company will assume responsibility and costs related to the project. The completion schedule will be specified in the coming weeks.

Led by the Ministry of the Economy, Innovation and Energy, the Défis innovation Québec program makes it possible to create a link between ministries and public organizations with needs to be met and companies capable of developing solutions innovative.
