Strong winds are expected in Isère during the day of Thursday, November 21. The west of the department should be particularly affected. Orange vigilance will be in effect from 1 p.m.
Strong gusts expected
Météo France expects a “remarkable stormy wind”. It is during the day of Thursday that the situation will be most marked. “As the Caetano storm passes, the wind will strengthen in the region in the afternoon of Thursday. This wind will not be regular during the episode with peaks at intervals over the period. It will begin to strengthen at the end on Thursday morning, we expect values in the plains of 90 to 100/110 km/h in gusts, locally up to 120 km/h in Limagne. On the terrain we can reach 110 to 130 km/h. on the relief of the Massif Central and more than 150 km/h on the highest points of the Alps The wind will drop quite suddenly in the middle of the night from Thursday to Friday. Note that all departments will also be on yellow alert for. an episode, usually brief, of snow/ice.”
High risk of avalanches
In addition to this orange vigilance for violent winds, Météo France warns of a high risk of avalanches in certain Isère massifs (3/5). Belledonne, Grandes Rousses and Oisans are affected.
