A sport utility vehicle (SUV), which failed to stop after hitting a pedestrian in Montreal on Wednesday evening, is still being sought by metropolitan police officers on Thursday morning. The life of the man who was hit is no longer threatened, but the investigation continues to find the vehicle involved in this hit-and-run.

Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday evening, the person driving the SUV allegedly forgot to make a mandatory stop at the corner of avenue Dubuisson and rue des Ormeaux, in the Tétreaultville district, and allegedly hit a 30-year-old man.

The latter had to be taken to hospital to treat serious injuries. On Thursday morning, the Montreal Police Department was able to confirm that he was out of danger at the hospital.

For his part, the person driving the SUV did not stop after the collision. Investigators from the Montreal police force are therefore continuing their investigation to find this person and their vehicle, which is believed to be dark in color.

A security perimeter had been set up at the intersection where the collision took place, but this was lifted after a few hours.

The investigation into this case is, however, continuing.
