“We are increasingly realizing that the fridge is always empty. I am being generous when I say that after two hours, it is empty,” says Stéphanie Lecours, a food worker at the Amélie et Frédérick mutual aid service.

It is possible to help yourself in the fridges, but also to fill it with food. “We are a little dependent on our donations,” explains Ms. Lecours.

To try to increase the volume of food production, three organizations are joining forces with the Amélie and Frédérick mutual aid service. The Unite to Feed project will therefore attempt to double or even triple the quantity of food, which currently stands at around 100 dishes per week.

“The Saint-Louis Centre will take a big part of all of this. They will involve the students in this. There will be volunteers. That means that the production will grow,” explains Ms. Lecours.

Le Pavois and Accueil Saint-Ambroise will also be partners in the project.

If you want to donate or collect food from a fridge, there is an interactive map to show where community fridges are located in your area.
