Abidjan – The president of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE), Abdellatif Bardach, in his capacity as President of the French-speaking network of energy regulators (RegulaE.Fr), chaired, Wednesday in Abidjan, the Opening of the Conference of French-speaking Energy Regulators, with the Minister of Mines, Oil and Energy of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.

This event was an important milestone for strengthening collaboration and constructive exchanges in the field of energy infrastructure in Africa, a press release from ANRE said on Thursday.

Exploiting the diversity of resources and technological innovations across African and French-speaking nations, this conference highlighted initiatives aimed at improving access to energy, stabilizing electricity networks and integrating renewable energies, adds the same source.

Presentations from member regulators highlighted the crucial importance of cooperation to address the continent’s energy challenges, with a view to sustainable and integrated development.

In line with the vision of sustainable development advocated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, ANRE is committed to supporting the development of projects beneficial to the entire continent, thus strengthening regional capacities and stimulating inclusive economic growth, underlines the press release.

The event catalyzed participants’ commitment to regional energy integration, focused on strengthening infrastructure and harmonizing energy regulation.

Recognizing the crucial importance of international interactions in the energy sector, ANRE continues to promote major strategic initiatives.

At the head of the Mediterranean and French-speaking Association of Energy Regulators, ANRE coordinates the collaboration of 58 regulators mainly from the European and African continents.

This role confirms Morocco’s position as an energy convergence point between Europe and Africa, strengthening its influence on the global energy scene, the press release specifies, noting that this dynamic does not only strengthen Morocco’s regional position, but also opens new perspectives for the advancement of energy regulation in these regions.

The French-speaking Network of Energy Regulators (RegulaE.Fr) was created on November 28, 2016 in Paris with the aim of bringing together regulators who share the French language within a single network in order to facilitate exchanges and encourage collaboration between its members. RegulaE.Fr currently has 32 regulatory authorities from Africa, Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
