The Metropolis of Lyon highlights, on the occasion of International Children's Rights Day, its commitment to defending the rights of young people.
The Métropole de Lyon has already raised awareness among more than 17,000 children and adolescents thanks to its support for the Young Ambassadors for Children's Rights (JADE) program. A figure reported by the Metropolis in a press release, this Wednesday, November 20, on the occasion of International Children's Rights Day. On the occasion of this world day, Lucie Vacher, vice-president of the Métropole de Lyon responsible for child protection and families, is delighted with the work carried out by the community in this regard: “The involvement of young people in Child Welfare bodies is essential to sustainably improve the quality of their care. This youth committee embodies a unique space where they can express their concerns and actively contribute to the development of public policies that concern them“.
And continues: “It is not only a question of meeting their immediate needs, but of building together respectful and adapted reception conditions for those who will come after them“. Also, innovative methods have been tested in collaboration with the Mangrove association to “encourage dynamic and inclusive exchanges“, says the Metropolis in its press release. As a reminder, nearly 7,000 young people are supported by the ASE on a metropolitan scale, including 3,000 minors in accommodation and 1,200 adults.
