The National Council of the Chadian Transition adopted, and was approved by a strong majority, a draft resolution supporting the President of the Republic and the government in the decision to break off military cooperation with France.
Meeting in plenary on December 3, 2024, the members of the National Transitional Council voted on a draft Resolution supporting the President of the Republic and the government following the decision to terminate the Defense Cooperation Agreement signed with the French Republic.
On November 28, the Chadian government made the unilateral decision to break off its military cooperation with France. A cooperation dating back to the 1960s, which has been widely criticized over the last three years by civil society and opposition political parties.
The draft Resolution supporting this so-called sovereign and historic decision was adopted by 137 votes out of 149 voters. The initiators of this project justified it by the parliamentary mission which is to defend the interests of the Chadian people.
By voting for this project, the CNT takes note of this decision and expresses its full support for the government. Its president, Dr Haroun Kabadi, called on the government to implement this decision as soon as possible. so that we can see the results on the ground. »
Furthermore, the CNT invites the government to continue to pursue its sovereign mission of defense and security of the Chadian people.
