The National Rally of Charente-Maritime, led by MEP Séverine Werbrouck, has just formalized, one week apart, two “war prizes” from the ranks of the Republicans of Charente-Maritime. The first is Alisson Curty, mayor of Ciré-d'Aunis and former LR delegate for the second constituency; the second is Bertrand Giraud, former LR delegate of the third constituency.

Two “takes” which are surprising since the two activists were present, on Wednesday November 6, at the public meeting of the boss of LR deputies in the National Assembly, Laurent Wauquiez, in Pont-l'Abbé-d'Arnoult. In the middle of the 200 “sympathizers” – the quotation marks are necessary – the two leaders gave the lie but their religion was made, concedes Bertrand Giraud, certain of “opening a breach”.

In full doubt “for several months”, he had been in close contact with the National Rally since the start of the school year. Laurent Wauquiez's intervention was supposed to remobilize the troops to “refound” a Gaullist party caught between Horizons-LREM and the RN which he says he rejects. The troops were obviously not perfectly aligned that evening. Bertrand Giraud considers that what was stated by Laurent Wauquiez on the security aspect corresponds “to what the RN says”.

“A red line has been crossed with the rapprochement with the Macronists”

The cereal grower and forestry operator in La Villedieu and Aulnay-de-Saintonge defended the line of former president LR Éric Ciotti, that of an alliance with the RN during the express legislative elections of July 2024. The candidate for the 2022 legislative elections on -Saint-Jean d’Angély (6.86%) did not support the fact that “a red line was crossed with the rapprochement with the Macronists”. In the first press release, Alisson Curty, lawyer, said she was “disappointed to see that the party seemed more motivated by personal interests, rather than by serving the French”.

“Individual choices”

David Labiche, departmental head of LR, was notified “overnight” of the two resignations. He can only be surprised by the “timing” and sees in these departures “individual choices” which do not portend anything else. “It’s their choice, I suppose there was an opportunity… Does the RN offer something magical, miraculous? », he asks falsely.

“I have always served my family,” he sent to the address of the two resigning committee leaders. The short story will be that everyone – delegates included – had dinner together and “at shared costs” the evening of Laurent Wauquiez’s meeting in Pont-l’Abbé-d’Arnoult, without anything showing through.

David Labiche repeats his rejection of the extreme right. “I was the first to deviate from Eric Ciotti's personal choice. I have not received any torn card, no resignation, no call,” maintains the departmental manager who says he does not fear mass departures. “We’ve been waiting for our leader for twelve years. You had to leave first if things weren't going well. Our leader is Laurent Wauquiez. »
