the municipal opposition group is torn apart

It only lasted a little more than six months: the municipal opposition group Rassemblement national de Pont-Saint-Esprit was torn apart this Tuesday, with the submission of the resignation letter of four of its six members, who decided to continue to sit within a new group.

They slam the door: Aurélie Delwarte, Thibault Héry, Jennifer Galissaire and Ludovic Nicolas, elected from the RN list led by Emmanuel Le Pargneux last spring in the Spiripontaine municipal opposition, resign from the group led by their former head of the list. “All four of us are leaving the group but we retain our mandates as advisors”confirms Aurélie Delwarte.

The reason: “We disagree with the management team, Pierre Meurin and Emmanuel Le Pargneuxbegins the opposition representative. The decisions do not suit us, they are vertical and not horizontal, we have not managed to agree on the working framework. » Aurélie Delwarte dates the start of the problems“six months ago”almost from the start of the mandate, but the situation would have deteriorated “after the legislative elections” last July. Aurélie Delwarte affirms that the four elected officials have “called out Pierre Meurin several times, but there was no reaction. »

Contacted, the deputy for the 4th district said he was “very surprised” : “Everything is not perfect, we have only been together for six months, in terms of understanding, in terms of how we work, but we are not ridiculous at all. I don't understand what happened.”affirms Pierre Meurin. However, the parliamentarian recognizes that“there were dissensions from time to time, but never before had political, strategic differences been manifested in the public square. »

Pierre Meurin claims to have “does everything to try to maintain the unity of the group”but that the four resigned elected officials did not “not accepted the dialogue. » For him, the reason for this split lies in “the desires” by Aurélie Delwarte, particularly with a view to 2026. “Not at all, we are here for our mandate, we want to move forward as opposition advisors”replies the person concerned, who does not intend to return her card to the RN.

In the meantime, Pierre Meurin indicates that he “will readjust the strategy accordingly” of this new situation, and says he has “I fully intend to put together a union list in 2026. » With a message to new dissidents: “I retain the confidence of my federation, I am still the distributor of the RN label for 2026, I am still the constituency parliamentarian and municipal councilor”.

Update 11/19/24 at 8:30 p.m.: Pierre Meurin lets us know that “Aurélie Delwarte is not a member of the RN”. Of which act.
