According to France 3 Hauts-de-France, a round table was held this Tuesday at the Somme prefecture to discuss the increase in incivility in amateur football. The prefect brought together the main stakeholders involved: representatives of the football district, law enforcement officials, local elected officials and associations.
This meeting follows the “weekend without football” organized by the district at the beginning of November, after a series of worrying incidents reported on the pitches, including 43 exclusions and 437 warnings during a single weekend.
An action plan to ease tensions
In the Somme department, which has 168 clubs and more than 24,000 licensees, the football district has noted a clear increase in disciplinary cases. With 18 cases already treated this season, the local authorities have decided to act by proposing an action plan based around prevention, support and repression.
This plan includes training for supervisors, strengthening sanctions and increased control over club subsidies in the event of repeat offenses. The measures will be finalized by June 2024, with the objective of restoring a calm climate in amateur football in the department.
