The violent wind which hit the island this Wednesday, November 20 caused damage in Haute-Corse. According to initial figures, wind gusts of 174 km/h were recorded in Cap Corse and 150 km/h in L'Île-Rousse.

The Cap route (D80) is currently blocked at Miomo, in the town of Santa-Maria-di-Lota. The strong gusts of wind caused a tree to fall, completely preventing traffic on both lanes. The large number of cars in circulation also created a major traffic jam on the D331 towards the Corniche, making any diversion impossible.

The gendarmerie is currently on site and EDF agents are expected to intervene on an electric cable which is currently preventing the trunk from being moved. Once the operation has been completed, the tree can be cut and then evacuated.

Two flights departing from Calvi were canceled this Wednesday morning: the one to scheduled for 7 a.m. and the one to for 8:30 a.m. No information has been communicated to us regarding the flight to initially scheduled for 3:50 p.m. today.
