Ce Tuesday June 25, 2024 The trial of two police officers was held at the Angoulême court (Charente). The defendants were two police officers, accused of having uttered racist insults and slapping a suspect during an intervention. The facts date back to last January. The insults and the slap could have been filmed by a camera, without the knowledge of the police officer, indicated 20 minutes.

During the arrest of one of the two suspects, one of the two agents allegedly uttered the following sentence: “Yes, we’re going to hit you, we don’t like bullies.” The scene was filmed by the body camera of the agent which he had unintentionally lit.

Six months in prison required

At the end of the trial, six months suspended prison sentence as well as a one-year ban on practicing their profession were requested against the two agents present.

The deliberation of this trial will take place on Thursday, July 4. The victim of these racist insults did not file a complaint. These are anti-racist associations such as the Mrap or SOS Racism who became civil parties during this trial.
