This is a cabinet positioned near the Resistance Monument in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Manche), a wardrobe which will allow deploy (finally) optical fiber on the territory.

The installation of the optical sub-distributor (SRO) was inaugurated November 14, 2024 par Xavier Grawitz, vice-president of Manche Numérique and the Bay of Cotentin, Charles de Vallavieille, maireSylvain Letouzé, vice-president of the Region and Julien Cotentin, responsible for the work for Altitude Infra.

Hundreds of homes connected

In the name of its administratorsthe mayor, Charles de Vallavieille, said he was delighted because hope was there when the fiber was installed in 2016 during the Tour de but immediately withdrawn from the start of the runners

This cabinet, called SRO, is an intermediate network connection node, downstream from which each home or business is served with an optical fiber. This distribution cabinet will serve a large part of the population and connect hundreds of homes and professional premises.

« These equipment will thus allow to increase internet speeds for homes, businesses and public services of the municipality. 580 sockets will be connected in this cabinet with a part intended for operators with different colors to clearly differentiate them. The fiber is manufactured at Acome, in Manche. She is particularly resistant although very, very fine,” specifies Julien Cotentin.

Information meeting

And underground cable allows you to power the cabinet from Saint-Hilaire-Petitville to Sainte-Marie-du-Mont.

Xavier Grawitz also explains: “Thanks to the will of the departmental council and the EPCI of La Manche, today, 273,889 optical sockets are built, 250,555 sockets are marketable and we count 128,351 subscribersa figure that changes every day since there are more than 600 fiber subscribers every week.”

The entire territory of Sainte-Marie-du-Mont cannot be connected at the same time but an information meeting will be scheduled later in order to'inform the public.
