A neighborhood party in Caen marks the end of the Vaugueux work this Friday

It is one of the 5 major projects of Caen (Calvados) to be completed in 2024, with the former Lorge stables. After twenty months of workthe neighborhood historical du Vaugueux can return to normal, as planned, without delay, just before the summer season.

Six months of surface work

During 2023, a long phase of trenches, street by street, had gutted the neighborhood for the renewal of the water, electricity and gas networks. From January 15, 2024, surface beautification work followed, with the removal of the bitumen and existing sidewalks, the resumption of the masonry at the foot of the buildings and the installation of new paving.

Through this project, the City of Caen wanted to “maintain, even enhance the charm and the lively character” of Vaugueux, a district at the junction between the castle, Place Courtonne and the marina. Its residents and the curious will be able to judge the changes on site this Friday, June 28.

A concert and cocktails

The municipality delivers an end-of-work party, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On the menu, a concert by the group Celest on the Bayou and cider-based cocktails offered by the restaurateurs.
