Updated on 22/11/2024
The Orne department remains placed on YELLOW vigilance by Météo-France until Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
1. Power outages
Power cuts remain significant but the situation is improving : the number of households without electricity increased from 36,500 yesterday evening at 8 p.m. to 32,000 at 7:00 a.m. to 28,000 at 12:00 p.m. and less than 20,000 at 4:00 p.m. today (i.e. 45% of households reconnected). 16 municipalities are completely without electricity at 4:00 p.m. (compared to 50 at 7:00 a.m.). These cuts are spread across the entire department. 9 “patients at high vital risk” (PHRV) potentially impacted by power cuts were identified, four of whom required a home visit without any complications.
ENEDIS resources are fully mobilized to restore power as quickly as possible. 200 agents are involved with all ENEDIS staff in Orne and to support other departments and service providers. Two helicopters are flying over the area to speed up operations to identify line cuts.
Sensitive points are treated as a priority. In coordination with the ARS, water unions and telephone operators, ENEDIS is working to prioritize resupplying medico-social establishments (such as EHPADs), drinking water production stations and telephone antennas. When this is not possible, a generator can be installed.
90% of homes will be replenished by Saturday evening and the total restoration of the electricity network in the department should be effective by Monday.
Any incident or anomaly observed must be reported to Enedis via the number 09 726 750 61 (reachable 24/7). For your safety:
- Never touch fallen wires,
- Never touch an object in contact with a power line
- If using an individual generator, place it outside the home and remember to turn off the circuit breaker
2. Road traffic
The improvement in weather conditions and the lifting of the ORANGE level alert by Météo France has made it possible to lift the traffic ban measures in force since yesterday morning. Thus, all prefectural and zonal measures, including for heavy goods vehicles, have been lifted.
Traffic conditions are improving on the department's road network, in particular thanks to the action of road officials and the numerous road treatment operations carried out since yesterday.
3. Rail traffic
Due to falling trees, rail traffic will remain disrupted on the TER lines passing through the Orne department this weekend.
In the event of an emergency and in the absence of a telephone connection, move to an area covered by the network or go directly to the nearest gendarmerie brigade to use the dedicated intercom.
The department remains placed on YELLOW snow/ice level vigilance until tomorrow. The prefect of Orne calls for everyone to be vigilant and to respect the cautionary instructions for road users and invites them to adjust their driving according to local weather conditions.
