Off with the labels”Animal Friendly City”, symbolized by one to three “legs”, the Île-de-France region wishes to promote, every two years, the municipalities committed to animal welfare.
The jury takes into account in particular the promotion of animal welfarethe enhancement of their place in urban space and support for vulnerable citizens, through their companions.
This year, 55 communesincluding 21 new ones, have joined this network, bringing to 110 the total number of cities rewarded since the creation of the system. Coubron et Gagny, in Seine-Saint-Denisare among the nine cities to have been newly labeled “3 paws”.

Among the flagship initiatives, the Town of Gagny notably created the Animal Housea center dedicated to reception, information and adoption, also offering advice to owners. The municipality has also set up Chatipi, a refuge specially designed for stray cats.
She also launched the “My pet is home alone”, which guarantees rapid treatment of animals in the event of an emergency. Every year, the Animal Forum brings together experts, associations and citizens to raise awareness and share knowledge on animal welfare.
The next call for applications for the “Animal Friendly City” label will be open at the end of 2025-beginning of 2026.
