The intensive care unit at the Émile-Durkheim hospital in Epinal is modern! He uses a virtual reality headset in intensive care. The helmet allows the use of non-drug techniques (hypnosis), so it has no adverse effects.

The Rotary Club of Epinal presented this Wednesday, June 26, a virtual reality headset to the Epinal intensive care unit, in the presence of Dr. Mathieu Beis, resuscitator, Yves Morel, President of the Rotary Club of Epinal accompanied by a few members of the club as well as representatives of the Management of the Emile Durkheim Hospital Center.

The HYPNO-VR virtual reality headset is an innovative device in the hospital environment: it allows the use of non-drug techniques (hypnosis), therefore without adverse effects, in fragile, often elderly patients, to reduce pain and anxiety felt during certain healthcare procedures. The use of hypnosis is old but innovative in acute and heavy hospital care settings, it is without risks.

This helmet, worth 4,000 euros and entirely subsidized by the Rotary Club of Epinal thanks to the profits from the Salon de la gourmandise, was given to resuscitators trained in hypnosis techniques.

It will be used in outpatient surgery, pulmonology and pediatrics as well as pain consultation.
