One more year in detention. The Poitiers Court of Appeal was more severe, this Wednesday, June 26, 2024, against the garage owner of Ormes, prosecuted and convicted last February for violence targeting his ex-wife.

She has just handed down a three-year prison sentence with the continued detention of Benoît Millet, incarcerated for four months. This is one year more than the initial sentence.

But it is still less than the five years required by the attorney general, in this procedure initially considered as attempted murder, before receiving a qualification of aggravated violence.

An additional year of detention

In addition to the detention sentence, the court ordered strict socio-judicial monitoring, for five years, at the end of the sentence. The mechanic will have to avoid his ex’s home as well as his place of work, he will have to stay away from the towns of Grand Châtellerault and some neighboring towns of Indre-et-Loire.

If these obligations were violated, he would risk an additional three years in prison.

The court also removed parental authority from him. The numerous weapons that had been found at the defendant’s home were confiscated. His hunting license was revoked.

The couple had been separated since September 2023, but they were in daily contact with each other as part of the management of their garage. An establishment now completely closed.

This February morning, the mechanic’s jealousy exploded for the third time against his ex-wife and her new companion. He even fired a shot from a revolver, without hurting anyone.
